The Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth #
Blurb: The Day of the Jackal (1971) is a political thriller novel by English author Frederick Forsyth about a professional assassin who is contracted by the OAS, a French dissident paramilitary organisation, to kill Charles de Gaulle, the President of France.
Notes: Sort of skipped ahead of Wild Houses as whilst there was nothing wrong with it just wasn't what I needed to read at the moment. Had recently watched the new The Day of the Jackal TV series which uses the book as inspiration and enjoyed it a lot. Made me realise I had never read the original book despite it being hugely famous and well known. Enjoyed the book a lot and whilst it is a slow start with lots of scene setting in the first half by the end I was gripped and couldn't read fast enough to find out the conclusion. Library loan which is due back today, better get busy.
